Recruitment Process

Requirements:
To be eligible to join a sorority during fall formal recruitment, a woman must 1) register with the Panhellenic Council through a Recruitment Counselor, 2) either attend at least one recruitment event hosted by each national sorority or attend a rotational event and 3) attend at least 3 official rush events. These requirements only apply to the three national sororities (Alpha Phi, Alpha Gamma Delta and Pi Beta Phi)

Recruitment Counselors:
17 recruitment counselors, also known as "Rho Chi's" voluntarily disaffiliate themselves from their houses. They are there to assist women through Formal Recruitment with unbiased advice or answer any questions you may have. As formal recruitment begins, each participating woman will be assigned a Rho Chi.

Rotational Events: A rotational event is an event where all five sororities will gather together and women interested in rushing will be asked to visit each one. Attending a rotational will fulfill the second requirement listed above.

Rush Parties: After the rotational events, individual rush events begin. These are events hosted individual sororities which take place at their chapter houses. Each sorority holds three official rush events along with an invitational dinner. Rush parties are a perfect time for you to get to know the sisters and get any questions that you might have answered.

Preference Parties: The last recruitment event is called "Preference" which is usually somewhat more special and is often semiformal. If invited, you may attend up to two preference parties. These will give you one last chance to look at the chapter(s) you may be interested in.

Bid Matching Following the final preference party a woman attends, she fills out and signs a preference card stating which house or houses she would be interested in a bid from, in order of preference. Bid matching will occur that evening or the next morning and once a woman has signed her bid, it is binding for one calendar year. This means that if a woman signs a bid for one house then chooses not to complete the new member process, she cannot join another house until the next year.
